so there are seven people on my Warrior Dash team this year, and since we’re all huge HP fans we thought we could be a Hogwarts Interhouse Quidditch Team but because we’re all academics it’s super heavily biased towards Ravenclaw

Septembros: Looking for a goal to break you out of your exercise rut?
I don’t know about you guys but motivating myself to work out each week without any particular goal is tough and, to be frank, usually fruitless. So why not set yourself a goal? And better yet, why not make it an over-the-top extravaganza, something your sane former self would never have dared attempt were you not determined to conquer your body and your willpower?
I have always been a staunch opponent of running for varied reasons, not the least of which being that it’s uncomfortable and hard, but on the example of my best friend I signed up for an Adventure Race to get my butt out of my house and my feet on the pavement. It gave me a goal, it gave me a challenge I wasn’t sure I could meet, and it gave me an overwhelming sense of accomplishment when I crossed that finish line. Courtesy of Outside Magazine, here are some other Adventure Races all across the USA and the world that might peak your interest, break you out of your routine and help raise you up to new levels of excellence.

Warrior Dash 2011 (before and after)
Seriously one of the best times ever - my muscles are aching but it was worth it to have completed the 3.08 mile, 10 obstacle course in the cold and the rain alongside my friends! This was the big goal I’ve been training for since the spring and though I’m glad it’s over, I will definitely do it again next year!
September Health Month Update
I’m going to try to jog M W F while I’m on site - that’ll leave Tuesdays free for Glee and Thursdays free for trolling the town. And by trolling the town, I mean going to bed at 8 instead of 9. That’s right - envy my riveting adult life.
I’m really lucky because there’s a great, sprawling, wooded cemetery just a mile off my project site and right next to a lake. Taking a few laps through it fulfills my distance requirement and it has some really gorgeous monuments, although last time I swallowed like a whole colony of gnats accidentally. I like running in cemeteries - it’s really peaceful, the ground is never even, the paths are always winding and there’s never anyone there to see me when I keel over in pain. Although this one definitely has a headstone with my full name on it - so hey, premade space for the keeling over!
September had a rocky start, so I have met none of my other goals so far aside from the breakfast goal. I am kicking into gear this week though, and have brought healthy meals with me from home and found a decent local salad provider.
Warrior Dash this weekend! Woo-hoo!!
